If you were at the concert on 03.12.2002 and would
like to meet with other Dream Theater fans than this fanclub is for YOU!
The
Kansas Ytsejam is a local UN-endorsed Dream Theater fan club for people living in
Kansas and the surrounding states.
Mike V.
and I, Mike D., started and arranged this so that Dream Theater fans could get
together and talk about our favorite band, trade bootlegs, and discuss
whatever progressive rock had to offer.
If you
would like to know more information about us, just send email
to sacredjade@angelfire.com
and I will respond as soon as I can, and you'll be notified when we hold
the next meeting.
The
last time the KS Ytsejam met was: July 21, 2001
We
usually meet in Kansas City since it is a fairly known location.
We meet on Saturday's in the afternoon at Applebee's in Overland Park (a
suburb of KC). We also post it to all
the official forums as far in advance as possible so that we can
accommodate everybody's schedule!
peace,
Sacredjade
A review by the webmaster of the
Kansas City Dream Theater show...
Here's the setlist from the Kansas
City Dream Theater show which kicked some major ass!
Finally Free outro (taped)
The Glass Prison
Strange Deja Vu
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Under A Glass Moon
Jordan Rudess Key Solo (which led right into)
Lines In The Sand (demo version) (Jordan almost has Derek's distorted
guitar lead sound nailed -- this blew me away!)
Misunderstood
Lie w/extended jam
The Spirit Carries On
Take The Time (w/excerpt from By Tor)
*Intermission*
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (w/
the taped intro that had no guitars, bass, or drums... just Jordan's
track. It was great to hear what he actually plays on that and I
understand now why they went with tape instead of actually attempting
it. And this whole song just totally ruled!)
Encore:
Home
Hollow Years
Pull Me Under
A couple things to note about this
concert...
1. During Misunderstood, one of the
monitors on the end by John Myung caught on fire! Once Portnoy saw this,
he grabbed his microphone (while still playing drums) and did his Beavis
impression -- "Fire! Fire! Fire!" There was no stopping
Portnoy from having loads of fun during the whole evening!
2. During the extended jam in Lie,
Mike (once again, having fun!) was throwing one of drum sticks back and
forth with one of the sound guys on the side of the stage. Crazy!
Overall, this concert kicked so much
ass!!!!! Petrucci was "ON" all nite! Does this man ever loose
his edge? Think not! James was amazing as well. He kept his voice and
composure all nite. Myung is not just a bass god, but *THE* bass god.
And at a couple points in time he actually smiled and at others he
MOVED! Jordan's new rotating keyboard stand is cool and (of course) he
played flawlessly throughout 99% of the nite. And last, but not least,
they all looked like they were having fun. Which made my experience even
better.
My one (and only!) gripe with this
concert is that it was a bit loud. That's it, that's all. Other than
that, the concert, venue, and crowd were amazing. And after the concert,
I got to meet and get pics with LaBrie, Rudess, and Myung. For some
reason, Petrucci and Portnoy were nowhere to be seen, but that's for the
next leg of the tour through the US.
I'd like to say "Thank You"
to the following forum members that I met at the venue and concert that
made this even more enjoyable!
Barryintexas, Mashtun, Drummer, JBN1
from the Portnoy forum.
SpaceDyeJess from the LaBrie forum.
and especially KSDreamer from the dt.net forum.
And all the Houston Ytsejammers as well.
A little something for any DT fan who is awaiting a
concert....:
